“Read Why This Keurig Coffee Maker Was
The Ultimate Christmas Gift”
Last Christmas, my Mom approached me with a gift idea she had for my husband, my brother and my brother-in-law. Being the biggest coffee drinkers in the family, she wanted to give each of them a Keurig single serve coffee maker.
Although it was certainly a generous idea, I really wasn’t sure that it was a good one. After all, how practical is a coffee maker that can only make one cup of coffee at a time?
But Mom was convinced.
She herself owned a single cup coffee maker and loved it. She raved about how simple it was to use her machine and how much fun she had choosing the perfect flavor to match her mood at any given time of the day.
So needless to say, under the tree last Christmas, were 3 shiny Keurig B60 Gourmet Single Serve Coffee Makers wrapped in pretty Christmas paper.
And now, more than six months later, I have to admit that Mom really did know best because….
This Keurig Single Cup Coffee Maker is the King of our Kitchen
Since the first day we used this coffee maker, I knew it would be well used and well loved.
- It is so easy to use I think my four year old could make herself a cup of coffee.
- It is incredibly fun to choose a different flavor of coffee every time with the easy-to-use single serve K-cups.
- It is quick and easy to clean too.
I’m Spilling the Beans about Owning a Keurig Coffee Maker
I think it is important when you are reading reviews and comparing various models of any home appliance to get your information from someone who owns and uses the machine on a daily basis. You can get the real nitty gritty details that way.
Aside from reading my review, you can read what other happy Keurig owners have to say about their coffee makers by visiting the product page at Amazon.com. And there will be lots of reading to do once you get there. This model has over 1,000 customer reviews and has earned itself a 4 star rating!
But before I go on, I know you want to know…
How Much Does a Keurig Single Serve Coffee Maker Cost?
Great question. One of the great things about buying a Keurig coffee machine, is the wide range of prices and styles available. Here’s what I mean. If your budget is:
Under $175 – Best Choice – Keurig B70 Platinum Single Serve Brewing System
This model has 5 brew sizes available and a large 60 water reservoir. The grand daddy of all Keurig single cup brewers!
Under $150 – Best Choice – Keurig B60 Gourmet Single Serve Home Brewer
This one is the star of my single cup coffee maker review above (and below). It is the perfect size with great functionality.
Under $125 – Best Choice – Keurig B40 Elite Single Cup Coffee Machine
Only two brew size options and no LCD display, but still a great way to enjoy single serve home brewing at it’s finest.
Who Offers the Lowest Price?
No one can find a better deal then my Mom. She is a budget shopper extraordinaire!! She consistently found that Amazon.com had the best deal on all models of Keurig single cup coffee machines. And with free shipping, she could avoid the shopping mall madness and have them delivered right to her door.
So Why is Keurig the Best Single Cup Coffee Maker?
I know there are other brands out there but the Keurig line of coffee makers is definitely the most popular and best selling for a few reasons:
Like I mentioned earlier, Keurig has a model to suit every style, taste and budget. The coffee makers vary from the tiny Mini Brew, which I think would be a great gift for college students, all the way up to the sleek Platinum B70 model for hard core java enthusiasts.
They are compatible with the greatest selection of K-cups (very important!) And K-cups aren’t just for coffee either – some contain tea and cocoa flavors too. We also bought a reusable filters for our Keurig so we could use regular coffee if we run out of K-cups.
Have a fantastic customer service department that is on hand 24/7 if you have any issues with your Keurig.
Advantages of a Keurig Single Cup Coffee Maker vs. a Traditional Coffee Maker?
- With a single serve coffee maker, there is no messy glass carafe to wash after each brew and no more wasting coffee if you make more than you’ll drink.
- With K-cups you are not limited to one flavor of coffee until the entire canister is empty. Each cup is a new and unique adventure. It is like having your own personal coffee shop.
- With the Keurig B60 model, you can brew three different sizes of coffee – the 5 oz setting for a small cup, the 7oz for an after dinner treat or the largest 9 oz setting to fill your travel mug. All with only one K-cup.
- The blue backlighting on the LED display gives this coffee maker a very polished and contemporary feel. It can really spruce up an otherwise lack-luster kitchen.
What Are K-Cups Anyway?
K-cups are the little containers of coffee, or tea, or cocoa that you use in your Keurig machine to make your hot beverage. They look just like the little creamer cups that are on the tables at your favorite restaurant. They have a tightly fitting foil lid that is labeled with the flavor of coffee.
When you are ready to make coffee, you simply pull open the front compartment of your Keurig coffee maker and place the K-cup inside. The machine does the rest.
K-cups are becoming more and more readily available at gourmet kitchen stores and even some of the bog box stores. But Amazon.com consistently has the best price on cartons of K-cups.
You Can Enjoy Iced Coffee Too!
Do Keurig Coffee Makers Come with a Warranty?
There is a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase that covers material defects and workmanship that may arise from normal in-home usage. This warranty is only applicable to those living in Canada or the US.
What’s the Bad News?
If there was one complaint I have about my Keurig, it is the noise it makes to brew a cup of coffee. Although not a loud noise, it does make some noise when the pressurized pump is heating the water. It sounds similar to a boiling electric kettle and lasts about 5 seconds.
My only other recommendation would be to purchase yourself a K-cup carousel to store and display your K-cups and a reusable filter so you can use any ground coffee if you run out of K-cups.
